Century ride - Santa Barbara to Santa Monica

On Sunday Nov 17, four brave souls set out on a journey that would change their lives...or just  make them really tired and feeling a good amount of accomplishment by the end of the day. Bryan, Daniel and I from the Bicycle.net team were joined by Tom from OTR. We took the early morning Amtrak train from Union Station LA to Santa Barbara and rode the 112miles back to Santa Monica. After a few wrong turns, we found our way out of Santa Barbara and climbed up Hwy 150 to scenic Lake Casitas, descending down into Oxnard, and returning to familiar grounds of Point Mugu and PCH/Malibu.

Total trip distance: 126.55 miles

100 miles century ride

On Friday, July 5th, I set out on a mission: ride 100 miles on my bike. I rode the Pacific Coast Hwy from Santa Monica to the Point Mugu Naval base and back. My awesome girlfriend met me at Point Mugu with a delicious sandwich and Gatorade. Refueled I hit PCH back to Santa Monica. When I reached Malibu, 80 miles behind me, my legs had gotten very heavy, and on top of that my rear wheel punctured. Tire fixed up, energy gel downed, I told my legs to shut up and take me home...they didn't fail me and even allowed me to sprint through the Santa Monica traffic. Mission accomplished, 100 miles, 8hours (incl stops), 3500kcal burned.
