A short while ago, I photographed our basketball team at Santa Monica
College with my trusted Olympus analog film camera and Kodak Tri-X 400
film. I developed the rolls of film myself and made prints in the dark
room. It’s great fun and a very welcome change of process from shooting
digital..although these images were scanned and little adjustments were
necessary on the digital images to match the traditional dark room
prints. I firmly believe, shooting film makes you a better photographer.
With limited frames and no immediate review on the back of the camera,
you are just paying a lot more attention to details in composition,
perspective, lighting and exposure – the basics of photography.
